What every button, list and letter in Kuraya does. Hover any button in the app to see its name.
Small icons next to the search box.
| π | Search box | Type any part of a title, DVD-ID, actress, studio or genre. space = all words must match, , = any of them, + = genre AND genre. The β next to it explains the syntax; the clock icon shows your recent searches. |

| π | Trash / History | Undo a recent delete, replace, rename or move while it is still in the trash. |
| π₯ | Process Inbox | Organises new files in your Inbox: finds the DVD-ID, checks for duplicates and moves each movie into the library. |
| π₯ | Media Tools | Actor photos and bios, metadata refill and the Movie Sorter (genre rules, synonyms, blacklists). |
| π©Ί | Doctor | A full health check of the library: missing covers, broken files, leftovers, wrong names. Shows what it found and fixes it on request. |
Small icons on the right.
| β | Help | What every button does, Troubleshooting, Report a problem (saves a log report on your Desktop) and Check for updates. |
| βοΈ | Settings | All options, grouped and searchable: folders, scrapers, subtitles, the player, the look. |
| π | Check Duplicates | Finds the same film more than once (by DVD-ID, file content and sound) and lets you keep the best copy. |
| π§Ή | Cleanup Duplicates | Removes duplicate rows from Kuraya's list (not your files). |
| ποΈ | Clean Cache | Repairs Kuraya's list quickly: wrong flags, double rows and entries whose folder is gone. Fast, no disk rescan, your files are not touched. |
| β | DVD-ID review | Only appears when some file names could not be recognised. Click to type the right DVD-ID. |
Every background job has a box. The badge on the box says what it needs: GPU (graphics card), NET (internet) or CPU.
| βΆ | Auto ON / OFF | OFF = nothing starts by itself (only what you start by hand). ON = the ticked boxes run in the background. |
| GPU | One GPU job at a time | Transcribe + Translate, Video Converter and the Burned-sub Detector share the graphics card. Only one runs; the others wait in line and their boxes turn grey. Long-press a grey box to force it on. |
| NET | Internet jobs run alongside | Metadata Backfill and Idle Genre Re-scrape use the internet, not the graphics card, so they run at the same time as a GPU job. |
| CPU | Doctor Guard | Checks the library in small steps and steps aside on its own when something heavier is busy. |
| βΈ | You always come first | While you scrape or the Pre-Inbox is working, transcription and the internet jobs pause and continue afterwards. |
| β³ | Video Converter waits | The converter only starts when no movie is waiting for subtitles any more, so subtitles are never delayed by converting. |
| % | The percentage | How much of your library still needs that job. Run the box with the highest number first. |
| β | Stop | Finishes the movie it is working on, then stops. Nothing is cut off half-way. |
| 1 | Your own choice | Right-click β Transcribe + Translate jumps the whole queue. |
| 2 | Newly scraped | Movies that just came through the Pre-Inbox / Inbox β always, even with Auto OFF. |
| 3 | Favourites | Movies you marked β€οΈ. |
| 4 | The rest of the Inbox | Only when Auto is ON. |
| 5 | The library | Movies with no subtitle, newest first. A movie that already has an English subtitle is never redone automatically β right-click β Transcribe + Translate if you want a new one. |
| β | Then the GPU is free | When no movie is waiting for subtitles, the graphics card is free for the other jobs, like the Video Converter. |
| β» | Translating | While the next movie is transcribed on the graphics card, the previous one is translated over the internet at the same time β so the queue keeps moving. |
Skipped on purpose: movies with no audio or no speech, movies that already have a downloaded or extracted English subtitle (those are never replaced), and titles blocked by the content filter.
Combine them: e.g. Source = Inbox + Badge letters = "E β No English".
| Source | Which movies to show: All, all libraries, only the Inbox, the Pre-Inbox or the duplicates area. | |
| Flags | Movies you marked: fanart mismatch, marked for deletion, playback error, no sound, foreign subtitles, bad English subtitles, wrong disc. | |
| Content | Needs scraping, needs renaming, complete movies, uncensored with burned subs, censored movies not yet checked for an uncensored version, minor-flagged (review). | |
| Badge letters | Filter by the letters on the cards: has / missing video, fanart, poster, NMP file, burned subs (also by language), transcript (T), English made by Kuraya (E), downloaded English (D), uncensored (U), locked (L). | |
| View | Fanart (wide covers), Poster (tall covers), Favourites, Actors or Series. | |
| Sort | Title, ID, actress, library, date, random, recently added / viewed, favourited, series. The β next to it flips the direction. | |
| Card size / theme | The slider changes the card size; the theme button switches dark and light. |
Green = present, red = missing. Hover a letter to see the files behind it.
| V | Video | The video file is there. |
| F | Fanart | The wide cover is there. |
| P | Poster | The tall cover is there. |
| N | NMP | Kuraya's information file (title, cast, genresβ¦) is there. |
| B | Burned | Subtitles are burned into the picture. |
| T | Transcript | A Japanese or Chinese subtitle made from the audio. |
| E | English | English subtitles made by Kuraya. |
| D | Downloaded | English subtitles you downloaded. |
| U | Uncensored | The movie is uncensored. |
| L | Locked | Kuraya will not change this movie automatically. |
Everything you can do with one movie.
| βΆ | Play Movie | Plays it in Kuraya's own player (subtitles load automatically). |
| π | Scan This Movie | Reads just this folder from disk again. |
| βοΈ | Quick Edit | Change the title, genres and the sort genres (g1βg4) in one small window. |
| π | Scrape Movie | Asks the movie sites about this film and shows every answer side by side β pick the best cover, title, cast and genres. |
| π§ͺ | Check Which Scrapers Have This Movie | Quick test of which sites know this DVD-ID. |
| π¬ | Edit / Add Subtitle | Attach a subtitle file you have, or make one: Transcribe + Translate turns the movie's audio into English subtitles. |
| π§ | Repair Video | Fixes a file that will not play or seek properly. |
| βοΈ | Scan for Start Ad | Finds an advert glued to the start of the movie so it can be cut off. |
| π οΈ | NMP Re-Creator | Rebuilds the information file from what is in the folder. |
| βΉοΈ | View Movie Details | All information about the movie on one page. |
| π | Show Series | Every film of the same series β which you own and which are missing. |
| π | Open Movie Folder | Opens the folder in Explorer. |
| πΌοΈ | Fanart tools | Download fanart from the internet, search manually, or make a poster from the fanart. |
| π¦ | Sort into V2 folder | Moves the movie to Studio \ genres \ DVD-ID β the same place its badge shows. |
| π | Change Date Added to Today | Makes it show up under "Recently added" again. |
| π | Hide from Library | Removes it from Kuraya's list but leaves the files on disk. |
| ποΈ | Delete Folder & Files | Deletes the movie for real β Kuraya always asks first. |
Select first, then right-click.
| βοΈ | Select several movies | Click the tick box on a card, or Ctrl/Shift-click. The right-click menu then works on all of them. |
| π | Bulk Scrape Selected | Scrapes all selected movies in one go. |
| βοΈ | Bulk edit | Quick Edit, metadata, genres or genre & location for many movies at once. |
| π | Fix names to 255 rule | Shortens folder and file names that are too long for Windows. |
| π | Find Uncensored / Eng-Sub Versions | Searches for a better version (uncensored or English-subtitled) of the selected movies. |
| β | Favourites, lock, flags | Add to / remove from favourites, lock or unlock, mark uncensored / censored, flag for review. |
| π¦ | Move / sort / hide / delete | Move to another folder, sort into the V2 layout, hide or delete several movies at once. |
| Setup (first start) | Choose your folders and download the free helper tools (FFmpeg is required; the others are optional and each says what it is for). Open it again from the welcome screen. | |
| Task Console boxes | Transcribe + Translate makes English subtitles for movies without them. Video Converter shrinks big files to HEVC (it checks picture, sound and length before replacing). Metadata Backfill fills missing information. Idle Genre Re-scrape improves genres while you do nothing. Doctor Guard checks the library in small steps. The % on each box shows how much is still to do. | |
| DeepSeek key | Without a key Kuraya makes free English subtitles with Whisper. With a DeepSeek key (about 3 US cents per movie) the English is much better. Paste it in Setup β Tools or Settings β API Credentials. | |
| Browser extension (Edge / Chrome) | Optional helper for scraping: it passes the Cloudflare check of movie sites you open in Edge to Kuraya.
| |
| Duplicates folder | For DVD-IDs that clash. Some different movies share the same DVD-ID (studios reuse codes). When the Inbox finds such a pair and you choose Keep both, Kuraya moves both movies into the Duplicates folder, so neither one overwrites the other or gets the other's cover, title or subtitle. Check them there (Source β Duplicates), give each the right ID and scrape them again. | |
| Movie Sorter | In Media Tools. Series Paths and Sort show where each movie belongs and move it there; Categories, Synonyms and Blacklist come set up already β only change them if you want different genre rules. |
